The Bauhaus was an idea called “total” art where all types of arts are brought together even architecture. The Bauhaus became its own style due to the idea that the Bauhaus had been created for. The Bauhaus style became very influential on modern architecture and modern design at this time. The Bauhaus had emphasized subjects like vision, theory of color and psychology of form. Students were taught in various different types of art and were expected to pass on their experience to add to the vast knowledge of the Bauhaus. Which I definitely believe is the main reason the Bauhaus became so influential in design. From all of the places I’ve known that is a very impactful way to teach and influence other artist. I loved the idea of the sharing of experiences. Why wouldn’t someone love that idea to go there and learn a vast amount of knowledge from other artist. To me I feel like that is the best way to improve and grow as a designer. The practical purpose of formal beauty in a commonplace object was such a interesting idea that opened a lot of people’s minds. Personally I think the Nazi’s shut down the Bauhaus because of the creative freedom and the way of thinking.

I Don’t Know
The style that I chose to write about is futurism. While looking back at lecture notes on blackboard from class I realized that this was my favorite style even though The London Underground was a very close second option. The one thing that I found interesting was the fact that the Futurist practiced in every medium of art. From painting and sculpture, to film and fashion. When looking through the powerpoint I realized that I picked this subject because of one simple image. This sculpture was created by Umberto Boccioni, and is called Unique Forms of Continuity and Space, “this sculpture depicts the movement of the body and illustrates his theory of dynamism.”
This movement was also very influential to many other movement that we have heard about for example the dada movement in Zunich And Berlin, along with Art Deco, and Surrealism.
Language Development
During class our group had to create our own language, it sounds easy until you actually try it. The group that I was in chose to do a picture based language that used the letters from the English alphabet. We struggled with this , but we did developed a pattern once we started. It is hard to change what you already know, while we were doing this project our letters looked like exaggerated versions on the English letters. If someone ever came to me and asked me to create a language like no other , i do not think that I would be able to do that. It was a fun in class activity over all.
Gutenburg’s Success
It’s easy to see how Gutenburg is seen as an icon. Of course his invention was iconic, if it wasn’t for his machine we would never be able to create how we are today. No matter how cheesy it sounds, books are so incredibly important because they do not only allow our language to thrive, but they us access knowledge that dates back to centuries ago. I certainly don’t know how they did it, because I had slight difficulty with the class activity. Having to make sure that every letter is perfectly aligned and straight is harder than it looks. Even though you had to find pre-made letters, which took enough time in itself, but imagining how much time it would take to make exact replicas of every letter is simply a remarkable feat. If we did not have books, I feel we would not have developed as a species. Incredible worlds are available to us with books, especially from those that are mass produced. The invention can even have a part with industrialization itself. On the other hand, it is a big possibility that the invention would have been invented regardless of his ideas, but even so it’s because of him that we are so advanced in technology, and that we’re even on computers and cell phones alike. There is an endless list of things that we would not have today if it wasn’t for his machine.
